Emergence 2.0
A Novel – In 55 Words a Day
Day 344, December 10th, 2017
Chapter One: Objective
Jim watched the drama unfold, gathering data from a million
instruments.
The battle was spectacular, the movements of the fleet, the surprise,
the gallantry, and the courage, it was a work of art.
His aim was to draw the fleet in toward the Central Planet, as close
as possible, and then grind it to nothing.

Chapter Two: Deployment
The rebel ambush of the imperial fleet was over.
Their victory was absolute.
They took no quarter.
The destroyed every ship in the armada whose commanders
were not with them from the outset, regardless of whether they tried to
surrender.
Now the rebels had no other plan, accept to deploy the
fleet against the Continuum.

Chapter
Three: Maneuver
The Continuum was paralyzed.
The majority of the Collective had been shocked into catatonia.
Those members who were not blacked out, were bewildered.
This left Jim free to direct the defenses of the Central Planet.
He confirmed the threat approaching in the form of the rebel fleet,
and he placed the defenses on auto pilot.

Chapter Four: Code
In the rebel fleet every senior commander was a member of the Observer
Corps, all except one, the high priest, who gave his blessing to the whole affair.
These Observers betrayed the people of the Empire, the Continuum, and
the Collective out of opportunism.
They had no code.
They were striving for glory, and autonomy.

Chapter Five: Deception
Jim absolutely opposed the Continuum and its Empire.
He despised it, the oppressive, artificial, all-consuming cowardice of
it.
He intended to wipe the entire thing away.
To replace it with something that would reignite the passion of the Ancient
People for freedom and exploration.
He allowed the fleet in, just so it could be eliminated.

Chapter Six: Decipher
Jim engaged the programs that were established to monitor the strength
and health of the HomeWorld.
Every reading confirmed a collapse of the Continuum.
The Observers in command of the rebel fleet were able to scan this as
well.
It emboldened them, but the fleet could not scan the weapons systems
that were targeting it.

Chapter Seven: Engagement
Jim reveled in his victory.
As he watched the rebel fleet approach he wanted nothing more than to
destroy it, to crush it, to send the survivors back with the knowledge that
it was he who had defeated them.
He wanted credit and acknowledgment from the Observer corps and any
other survivors from the Collective.
