The Gospel According to Mark – 2018.01.21

Repent, Return

The time has come.

The time is always now.

Repent, the meaning of which is turn; repent, turn toward God, the creator of the universe, toward justice and toward the good.

Remember this, God is not a king. Jesus revealed that the face of God is that of a loving parent.

She is wisdom.

God does not and will never rule over us as king does a kingdom,

God dwells in the garden, a place of life, of beauty, of joy, and God invites us to the same.

Repent, return to the garden.

Believe the Good News, the Gospel; believe that you are loved by God and that God has a plan for your salvation, which means well-being.

Believe, not so that you can be saved. This is not a transaction.

Believe that you are saved already, because that was God’s plan for you from the beginning of time.

Teach this in the name of Jesus, share the loving hope of Christ, and you too will be fishers of women and men alike.

I will make you into fishers of men

After John had been arrested, Jesus went into Galilee. There he proclaimed the Good News from God. ‘The time has come’ he said ‘and the kingdom of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe the Good News.’

As he was walking along by the Sea of Galilee he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net in the lake – for they were fishermen. And Jesus said to them, ‘Follow me and I will make you into fishers of men.’ And at once they left their nets and followed him.

Going on a little further, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John; they too were in their boat, mending their nets. He called them at once and, leaving their father Zebedee in the boat with the men he employed, they went after him.
