New Year’s Day 2018

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Today is a day of beginnings.

A small miscalculation at the outset, a subtle deviation from the plan, will cause you to miss your mark by a wide margin, cause you to never reach your end, or to end in a place you never meant to be.

Great care must be taken at the beginning.

Be mindful of your aim.

Today it is a day of resolutions.

Doing is being, that is what Ray Bradbury said:

To have done is not enough.
You cannot lie about, and lie about the things you might just do someday.
Do, and win the game.

Great things are achieved (and by great I mean great on any scale; socially, professionally, personally, spiritually, privately), arrived at, built, discovered, in a series of small, steady, consistent steps, through the steady application of effort.

Resolve to do something; be resolute.

Know this, life is a dance of contradictions.

The process is just as important as the goal.

The archer is not only concerned with the object of her aim, but with drawing of her bow.

2018, it is an even number. I mean it is both even as a numeral, and even in that it portends to be a year marked by a balancing in the fabric of American life.

2018 marks is the continuation of a new era in American politics, in the American social order, in the American vision, and the American experience.

2018 calls for a realignment of our cultural norms, a hoped for return of political power to the actual majority of Americans.

2018 will be the year of the woman, a year for justice, and compassion.

It is the first day, of the new-year, the first day of the first full year in office for Mr. Trump. I can only hope that justice catches up with him, and this year of lies, of un-reality ends as quickly as it began.
