Chapter One: Discovery
Jim discovered something in the human race that affected the
consciousness of the entire population; nanoparticles of the heavy metal, magnetite,
collecting in the cerebellum.
He found it first in himself after recognizing something unusual in the
cognition of his host body.
Then he found it distributed throughout the bodies of the Earth’s
human population.

Chapter Two: Hypothesis
Consciousness is essentially an electromagnetic
phenomenon. Jim theorized that the element at work in the cognitive process
of human-beings were nanoparticles of magnetite, that had bonded to the brain
forming a strong link, connecting each person to its magnetic field and
through that to each other, creating a field of cynergy not un-like the
Collective.

Chapter
Three: Testing
Jim used the resources at his command to build a laboratory for his
research, he hid it from the Continuum.
He made replicants of his own body, testing his theories on those
golems. He replicated his consciousness in them and used their agency to
conceal all his covert activities, his clandestine ambitions against the
Continuum.

Chapter Four: Proof
He found it, a mutation that captured nanoparticles of magnetite in
the cerebral cortex, a concentration strong enough to allow for a cognitive
connection between all human beings via Earth’s magnetic field. The mutation
had been devised by the Ancient people on their way to Earth, its interaction
with magnetite had not been intentional, nevertheless…

Chapter Five: Planning
Jim intended to introduce change into the genetic profile of each
tribe at the same time, to monitor the effects and breed the traits he was
looking for. He wanted to optimize the retention of nanoparticles retained in
the cognitive structures of the brain, making each person a receptive node in
the field of consciousness

Chapter Six: Creating
Jim created physical markers that would manifest themselves in the
characteristics of the gene-pool he was developing. Every tribe had many markers,
they guided him. They helped him map his progress, to his signal goal the
birth of a human being with a mind powerful enough to harness the fullness of
humanity and channel it.

Chapter Seven: Resolution
Jim
determined to plum the limits of his discovery. He cloned himself, planting
them in every population center around the world, each one connected to the
prime version of himself through the cynergenic field. He did this in
violation of the laws governing his post, “The Colonel is my benefactor,” I said,
which was a true a statement as any, though some might consider it to be an
embellishment.
If he had
been discovered he would have been destroyed.
