Angels burning bright
Holy as the morning sun
Rise to arms, take flight

The red horizon
Heavenly hosts storm the night
Save your life and run

Angels go to war
The Nephalim breed terror
Horrors of the damned

Lost in love, drunk with passion, stumbling

The watcher within waits for the dance, to give form to rhythm

It was a dream, the flight of angels, leaping in the light

A million refractions from the point of a pin

Each ray, a prayer, unbroken in the night

Lost in madness, like Romeo in his cups

Drinking to the dawn, a sweet and bitter potion

Like Tristram and Isolde who met their fate in a cave

Impaled on the bright spikes of desire

They crawled back into the earth to sleep, stirring nevermore

Lost in time, in the clever whispers of the world

Wind tossed and weary like Odysseus, compelled

To eat the lotus, to drink the hemlock, to relinquish all care

Socrates found what he was looking for in the dregs of despair

A longing to hold what cannot be held, to measure the fathomless deep

I had a vision
Approaching the infinite
Together with you

Trembling and in love
Humbled by your grace, constant
The vision we shared

Visions of eternal life
Reflected in you

I had a vision
Poised on the head of a pin
Angels gathering

Slip the grip of fear
The heart’s devotion
The vision we shared

You carried the flag
A vision, bright as the sun
Reflected in you

I had a vision
Of brave and humble service
Replenishing work

Light the darkened way
Chase the shadows out, fear, hate
The vision we shared

The bright and wonderous vision

Reflected in you

The forests were fenced in by houses and industry, by commerce encircling
Like the walls of a prison

The forests in the city were relics, a museum pieces, growing in their ancient place
Where the forest has always been, like an alien

The forests was perpetually new, they was green and slender, the old growth was excised
Like a tumor

Making way for the tender branching of youth

I walked beneath the verdant canopy, hidden in the greening leaves, questing for a vision
The beast of old king Pellinor

I was as wet as new born child, enveloped in the clinging dew of morning, searching
For the meaning of my birth

I shimmered in the sunlight, refracting in the dew drops, my body’s water
Splintered into rainbows, bursting

The radiant fountain rising in the morning

I climbed to the top of monuments, marble giants, still and silent, cradled in their arms
I wept with earthbound angels

I dreamt of death in the evening, of the dark and buried kingdom, of slipping into shadow
As certain as the retreating tide

I wandered without purpose, lost in the moment, in the freedom of madness
Blind as Lancelot

Following the waves to the opposite shore

True love endures all things, or so the Apostle said, the grief of the unknown, or the loss
Of what might have been

Pain is not penitential, but love is, and the penance of loving, its agony is restorative
The grail is the return to life

There is no life without love, or the loss of it, we are dust in the shadows

Sparkling in the light
