Ego

 A hall of mirrors

Children crawl along the floor

Through the shards of glass

Tiny reflections

A million refractions

Illuminations

Every image cuts

Sharp screams stream from wailing throats

Bereft of ego

Transform, Part II

It is much easier to point out a problem than it is to imagine a possible solution, and it is much easier to resolve a problem in your imagination than it is to formulate an actual plan to deal with it.

Even more difficult is implementation, and the difficulty increases by an order of magnitude as the number of people increases who have to be trained and oriented to the task at hand.

The most difficult thing of all is to evaluate your work and progress, this is made even more difficult when the goal is fluid, requiring a dynamic process of evaluation and change re-evaluation.

In order for us to come through the era of COVID-19 as a whole and functioning society, we are going to have to transform, we are going to have to have a plan, we are going to have to work together, and we are going to have to face the fact that the goal, more than being fluid is actually unknown.

We do not yet know where we are going, because we do not know the full scope of the problem, we are going to have to stay active, exercising our imagination in an ever changing present, forecasting our way to an ever changing end, evaluating and re-evaluating, imaging and re-imaging the path forward.

Nothing good will come from this experience so long as we are lying to ourselves about the scope of the problem, and deceiving one another to satisfy our petty egos and indominable IDs.

The first step we have to take is to admit to ourselves that we are all in this together, we need each other to make it through.

The next thing we have to do, and I mean WE the people of the United State of America, is to take control of our government, to make it work for us, not the political class, and the top 10% of money earners and wealth hoarders.

We have the power to demand the change we need to see happen, we can do it if we stick together, and over the next six months we have to focus on that task.

Many of us are out of work, we have more free time than we have had in a long time. Let’s get out there and win this election for the people.

Let’s pass Universal Health Care, let’s pass a Green New Deal, let’s pass Universal Education, let’s rebuild America, wipe out debt, repurpose empty office buildings to house the homeless, get our fellow American’s off the streets.

We can do it, we can return America to the people, we don’t have to put the top 10% of the money hoarders in the poor house, but we do need them to pay.

Our government is meant to represent the will of the people, by the people, for the people, of the people. We have to stand up as the majority and demand that the government exercise its mandate, to defend us from this virus and all the nasty things that will flow from this era of economic collapse and uncertainty, to promote the general welfare, and to ensure the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity.

Doubt

Existential angst, imaginary feelings, dread fabrications

Teetering on the edge of the abyss, descending in the deep, grasping at straws like the drunken on the ego

The painful awareness of getting ahead of yourself, convincing yourself that anything is good…or good enough

If you believe it

Does the burning in your guts satisfy you now?

Do you believe it?

Joy is yours if you desire it, and sorrow waits around the corner if you desire anything at all

You are not alone

This is the human condition

Stand in the presence of God, voice raised in song, a clarion of love

Listen and remember

In what chamber of your heart did you hide the key, the secret of eternity

Fumbling through the webs of uncertainty, stumbling, lost and forgotten on the event-horizon

Stretched in the timeless moment of doubt

Self Awareness

The way in is the way out, you must go through at the gate
Sensei said

We ate the fruit of the tree of  knowledge
We consumed a principle of justice, the understanding of good and evil
We became self-aware and cognizant of our failings

We became writers of laws

We wasted the world in selfish-conflict, greed
We became aware, and became aware of ourselves, of our lies
We were mired in the taxonomy of differentiation

We became arbiters of the law

We saw the other as our enemy, making them into effigies
We regarded ourselves with loathing, the cancer of dissatisfaction
We engaged in violent reprisals

We became instruments of the law

We went to the dance with Ego and Id
We were like Caine and Able, the herdsman and the farmer
We were urban and pagan, nomad and builder

The law blinded us to the demands of justice, we were its fools

Facing mirrors that pass through the universe
Gathering new images on the way—endlessly reflexive
The infinite seen as finite
The analogue of consciousness, coded with the cell
Carrying the sensed bits of eternity[1]

Emergence 3.0 - Section Five, 92835670100561474; Part Twenty-nine, Identity; Chapter Seven, Ego

Emergence 3.0
A Novel – In One Page Per Day
Day 217, Sunday
August 5th, 2018

Chapter Seven: Ego

From the great sleep, the deep-sleep in the great-deep-dark, from the place of sequestration, from the undulating ocean of the Collective’s pre-consciousness he awoke.

He was recognized.

In the first moment of his re-emergence the Collective saw him as a lost brother, reborn and miraculously returned.

He became an object of fascination.

Every single member of the collective wanted to touch his thoughts, and sense for themselves something of what he had experienced in the great sleep.

When they looked they saw nothing but the darkness and the unfathomable ocean of time.

His re-emergence was unique.

For a period of time the Collective was in awe of him.

They studied him.

When he exposed his consciousness to them individually, and to the collective consciousness of the Continuum separately, something happened. When they touched him, and he touched them, the link that he established was indelible.

He did not have to attempt to do it, the act of making his connection to them was not something that happened by artifice, or contrivance.

It took no effort at all, and because of that it went unnoticed.

He was himself, and his selfhood was transcendent.

Fugue

The state of being
Human, want and confusion
The pique of desire

The crushing tempest
Lashing at my sanity
Dissembling in fury

The fugue, a blessing
Isolated, forgotten
The collapse of self

A super-nova
Ego, crushed by its own mass
Self-realization

Alienation
Wander the hidden places
Promise of echoes

Emergence, In Fifty-five Words - Section Five, 92835670100561474; Part Twenty-nine, Identity, Collected Chapters

Emergence 2.0
A Novel – In 55 Words a Day
Day 211, July 30th, 2017

Chapter One: Sleep

There was darkness.

It was absolute.

It was like a calm, placid ocean beneath a heavy black shroud.

It was utterly silent, and yet there was a sense of shifting, a movement, a rhythm that faintly pulsed like a slow, forgotten heart.

Isolation was not a tomb, there was life here.

It was a prison.

Day 212, July 31st, 2017

Chapter Two: Awakening

He awoke in the dark place of a complex algorithm, where his consciousness had been sequestered.

It was absolutely dark, without sensory input.

He inhabited a quantum field.

He awoke in the wave like currents of all the others who had been sequestered, and all of those who entered the continuum, immediately falling into oblivion.

A Novel – In 55 Words a Day
Day 213, August 1st, 2017

Chapter Three: The Collective

He could feel the Collective pressing in on him, surrounding, permeating his consciousness. Yet, his distinctiveness was intact.

He was connected to the whole, and fully individuated at the same time, it was a phenomenon that the Continuum had never reported.

His consciousness was a type of singularity, unique in the history of the Collective.

Chapter Four: Remembering

Upon awakening Jim remembered.

He recalled his life before he succumbed to the great sleep.

He remembered life before the Continuum.

He remembered everything he had ever been.

He felt a great sense of loneliness, of distance between himself and the Collective.

He came to see the Continuum a tragedy.

He began to make plans.

Chapter Five: Primordial-Self

Differentiation begins with the desire to continue.

This is true at the most basic level, with the simplest forms of organic life, just as it is true of the most advanced.

Self-conscious beings differentiate themselves as individuals apart from their tribes. They are not merely members of the collective.

I am I, is the way.

Chapter Six: Id

A drive was building in the depths of his consciousness, a drive to taste, and to see, to feel the touch of flesh, of wind, and heat, to hear music, which he barely remembered.

He wanted to smell the loamy scent of soil.

He wanted life, even with its pains, its ailments, and its inconveniences.

Ego

I am confounded
Deceived and ignorant
Lying to the world

I am a blind man
Sightless old Polyphemus
My head in the clouds

Adrift in the mist
Watch sunlight diffusing
Lighting my day dreams

I hide from myself
The subject of scrutiny
A joke of the fates

Fountains of laughter
Falling alone in the World
Darkness descending

The drum percussing
Without care for consequence
Surfing waves of doom

Ancestral spirits
Hunger for bodies, breath, blood
Insatiable ghosts

The heat of the Earth
Hot winds bathing me, burning
Slowly in the fire

Breach the molten heart
Breaking through on golden wings

The wings of desire
