Desolation

Our suffering world, turning in the hands of fools
In the grasp of tyrants, clutching

Our suffering world, cracked, bled and bursting
Its treasures stolen from the earth

The people are crying, wandering among ruins
Blinded by despair, to the future

Consumed by greed, confused and ignorant
The people are murmuring

The prophets are speaking, the seas are swelling
The sun scorches, and the earth burns

Starvation and thirst, come for the people
The voiceless people, agonized

Apathy and scorn, no recourse for the victims
Tongues shrivel in blackened mouths

Our suffering world, for humanity’s achievements
Purchased with pain and misery

Our suffering world, its monuments forgotten
Shrines and memorials crumble in the storm

Reduced to nothing, desperation ensuing, trapped
In a nightmare without waking

Global disasters, depravities reoccurring
Sanctified in law

Emergence 3.0 - Section Three, Earth; Part Sixteen, Existence; Chapter Six, Thirst

Emergence 3.0
A Novel – In One Page Per Day
Day 118, Saturday

Chapter Six: Thirst

The human body is water.

Metaphors of fluidity permeate the human consciousness.

The surface of earth is mostly water, and in times of great crises the surface of the waters, and the deep deep places were where human beings returned to for refuge, safety and sustenance. Oceans, and lakes, and rivers provided everything

The body needs water, as it needs oxygen to fill the lungs, fill blood cells racing through veins, coursing into tissues.

There is no greater pain than thirst, and the unquenched desire is the thirst that leads to death.

Metaphors linking dryness to anguish, pain, and suffering fill the human imagination.

To thirst is to know that the end is near.

Thirst will drive the average person mad, the knowledge that death is approaching and the end of the body is at hand.

When thirst is great enough, a person will turn to a source of liquid that they know to be poisoned in order to slake it.

Thirst is a drive. It is the greatest motivator, greater than hunger, greater than joy.

The thirsty person will do anything, sacrifice anything. Thirst will cause a person to give up everything they hold sacred, even their own identity.

Pain and Toil (Haiku Series)

My world is in pain
There is war, both visible
And invisible

Murder and torture
Ubiquitous indifference
Killing for profits

Sheep to the slaughter
Machinations of power
There is no honor in it

Let the people go
The many, dying for bread
Thirst for clean water

They are innocent
Toiling for their families
Victims killed by greed

Ground away by war
For bananas and coffee
Their tears soak the fields

The people suffer
We are washed in blood, and shame
We greedy humans

We cannot escape
We are walking appetites
Persisting in crimes

Dreams manifesting
Destinies and cruelties
Purchased on credit

Civilization
Our progeny, hungry ghosts
Wailing at the moon

Tragedies and coin
Guarantees of ignorance
The collected host

Feed the soil with bile
Water it with suffering

The future, condemned

Emergence, In Fifty-five Words - Section Three, Earth; Part Sixteen, Existence, Collected Chapters

Emergence 2.0
A Novel – In 55 Words a Day
Day 113, April 23rd, 2017

Chapter One: Flesh

The flesh remembers.

The record of our experiences are pounded into our corporeal form, cell by cell.

Bodies change with every new experience, Each moment of perception is a new thread, engrams of memory, proteins woven into the fabric of life. Like a tapestry, they are an endowment, a heritage passed on to our descendants.

Chapter Two: Bi Pedal

The interactive relationship between the creature, the animal, its body, and the environment determined the spectrum of its consciousness.

Standing against the pull of gravity under the weight of Earth’s atmosphere, balancing on two legs, these differentiated human beings from every other creature, the pivot on a central axis, dancing on two feet, and walking.

Chapter Three: Stereo Hearing

Talking; the verbal sharing of ideas, feelings, perceptions, aural communications; the use of sound waves is deliberate. It is slow and luxuriant compared to the speed of light, which itself cannot compare to the instantaneous transfer of thought in a quantum field.

They are the crashing of waves through the body, adding depth to insight.

Chapter Four: Binocular Vision

Bands of light cross the full spectrum, piercing organic lenses from corner to corner, one-hundred and eighty degrees, light reflecting off of every object in the field of vision, light and shadow refracting in a wide array of color, creating depth by which we determine distance, and find our way through three dimensions of space.

Chapter Five: Hemispheric Brain

The brain was split in two, and this architecture served as kind of cognitive override.

If the messages from the brain stem flooded the organ with fear, desire, or any other strong feeling, the force of it was divided.

The human being was split down the middle, left for right.

It was an organic duality.

Chapter Seven: Duality

The whole body is a cognitive organ, not just the brain, cerebellum, and cerebral cortex.

The body senses, and remembers.

The whole being is contained in the tiniest part, in the nucleus of every cell. It pushes us forward, a chemical drive feeding the quantum field of creativity, a neural net rooted in organic chemistry.
